FTC to examine all acquisitions by Google, Amazon, Apple, and Facebook

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued orders to five big tech companies to provide information on all the acquisitions and mergers that were too small to report to antitrust regulators, reports Reuters. Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, and Facebook, have been asked to share detailed information on acquisitions of smaller firms back to 2010.

FTC Chairman Joseph Simons said the government would require the tech companies to unwind earlier acquisitions and divest their assets if it found violations of antitrust law. The main aim of the review is especially the acquisitions with a smaller value, about $100 million, that didn’t trigger government reporting requirements for the companies
