
In just over two years since the supermarket company initially revealed its ambitions to migrate to Microsoft Azure, Woolworths has completed the transition.
Microsoft aided Woolworths in transferring its SAP mission-critical applications and platforms, including SAP ERP and SAP Cloud Platform, to Azure during the eight-month project. Woolworths employed SAP’s Near Zero Downtime solution, according to Microsoft, which lowered the potential outage window from a few days to 17 hours.
Woolworths used the cloud transfer as a chance to rethink its disaster recovery strategy, reduce data size by half, and improve its operating system and database.
