The White House requested computer network operators to take additional measures to assess whether their systems were targeted between a hack of Microsoft Corp’s Outlook email program, as a new software patch still left severe vulnerabilities.
White House officials said that this was an active threat and still growing. Therefore, they urged network operators to take it very sternly. Besides, the top U.S. security officials worked to determine what next actions to take following the breach.
Until now, a tiny percentage of infected networks have been compromised by the back door, but more attacks are predicted, said an official.
