Horizon, VMware’s Desktop-as-a Service (DaaS) and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) platform, has received a series of updates that make it easier to handle hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
While remote work policies are still in flux, the updates should assist IT departments manage virtual desktops and apps. According to VMware, the total number of cloud-deployed Horizon desktops increased by 82 percent over a six-week period in early 2020, when enterprises aggressively migrated to remote work.
VMware Workspace ONE Assist will soon provide remote support for Horizon sessions. Workspace ONE Assist currently only allows IT and help desk workers to remotely connect to a mobile device, a physical PC or a special purpose frontline device.
