Virtru, a data protection company, has announced the launch of the OpenTDF project, an open-source initiative that will make the Trusted Data Format (TDF) specification publicly available.
The company claims that the project will allow developers to encrypt data entering and leaving applications and apply zero-trust controls at the data layer. Virtru hopes that by launching OpenTDF, developers will be able to use the OpenTDF GitHub repo’s software development kits to create apps.
OpenTDF will help those apps be better prepared to secure sensitive data, protect personal health information, cryptographically enforce document redaction, and protect message content end-to-end.
