Verizon and Google partner on new 5G edge computing push

Verizon and Google have announced a concerted effort to bring their computer services to customers via the 5G telecom giant network.

The partnership will integrate Verizon 5G Edge with Google Distributed Cloud Edge to provide both accounting and storage services. The companies plan to focus on business customers initially, offering their solutions through Verizon’s On Site 5G and 5G Edge platform.

The goal of the integrated service catalog will be to deliver calculators, as well as storage “on the edge of the local network that allows for the bandwidth and minimum delays required to support real-time business applications such as independent mobile robots, intelligent programming and flexible factory.”
