US Supreme Court Revives LinkedIn Bid to Guard Data

The US Supreme Court has recently given Microsoft Corp’s LinkedIn another chance to stop rival hiQ Labs from harvesting information (personal data) from the networking platform.

This practice is focused on public profiles and threatens the privacy of its users. The justice ruled out a lower court decision that had barred LinkedIn from denying hiQ access to the information publicly available.

The LinkedIn case highlights the increased importance of data on the internet and the ability of organizations to profit from them. hiQ utilizes these data for products that analyze employee skills or alert them while look for a new job.
