The Biden administration has reportedly amended licenses for organizations to sell to Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. This is to further restrict them from supplying tools for 5G devices.
The updates could disrupt existing contracts with the Chinese telecommunications equipment maker that was agreed upon the previous licenses. This action indicates that the US government is reinforcing a hard line around exports to Huawei – placed on the trade blacklist on its national security concerns.
However, an official from the US Commerce Department noted the licensing information is subject to confidentiality. Earlier, the Trump administration decided to deny 116 licenses with a valuation of $119 billion and only accept $20 million.
