UN Chief calls for Urgent Action over AI Risk to Human Rights-01

Artificial intelligence is being increasingly criticized with calls to limit its usage and, in some cases, outright ban on the technology. The UN’s Human Rights Director Michelle Bachelet has joined experts pushing governments to take tougher action to keep algorithms under control, in a new report recommending moratoriums on the sale and usage of AI for high-risk use cases.

“We cannot afford to continue playing catch-up regarding AI – allowing its use with limited or no boundaries or oversight and dealing with the almost inevitable human rights consequences after the fact,” said Bachelet.
