Seven Chinese supercomputing companies have recently been added to the US Entity listing – aimed at restricting the growth of Chinese technology. This initiative has been taken because they have allegedly helped China to build critical technology.
As Gina Raimondo, US Secretary of Commerce explained –“Supercomputing capabilities are vital for the development of many – perhaps almost all – modern weapons and national security systems, such as nuclear weapons and hypersonic weapons.”
The Department of Commerce plans to utilize the full extent of the authorities to prevent China from leveraging any US technologies to support such modernization efforts.
