With a large number of patients receiving ongoing chronic care on the rise, the usage of IoT devices has grown exponentially over the past few years. With this growth of the internet of medical things, there is also a growth of risks. IoMT devices s and other remote monitoring tools have cybersecurity vulnerabilities that could pose a risk to both health information and patient safety.
To meet this problem, VA has partnered with private-sector safety certification agency UL, for a two-year cooperative research project. The collaboration has created a publication of a report highlighting the value of standards for medical device cybersecurity.
