The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services was hit by an unspecified cyber –attack on Sunday. Bloomberg was the first to report the attack on Monday morning. It initially described it as a hack; however, it is now being referred to as “multiple incidents of a cyber-intrusion.

The HHS Secretary Alex Azar said there was no data breach and they are functioning as usual, while the officials are investigating the matter. There had been multiple hacking incidents that appeared aimed at slowing the department’s systems. The HHH official told Bloomberg that it is likely that “a hostile foreign actor” was behind the attack. The official also stated that HHS and federal government cybersecurity professionals are continuously monitoring and taking appropriate actions to secure our federal network.
