On Sunday, Telenor said that Huawei would play its role in building Norway’s 5G network along with Ericsson. Despite U.S. pressure, Ericsson is willing to work with the Chinese technology company.
Petter-Boerre Furberg, Head of Telenor Norway, said that the operator would gradually phase out the Huawei network in 4-5 years of modernization period.
“Ericsson has been introduced as a new vendor for 5G RAN, but we will also work with Huawei both to maintain the 4G network and also upgrade to 5G coverage in selected areas of Norway,” said Hanne Knudsen, Telenor VP of Communications.
Huawei said in response that it welcomed the competition in 5G and was looking forward to continuing its collaboration with Telenor.
