Telecoms Companies Slam Proposed Tweaks To EU Privacy Rules

The telecoms industry in Europe has recently lammed the proposed tweaks to upcoming EU regulations governing various social channels. This would tighten the directions faced by some telecom providers to practice electronic communications metadata. It is valid on Skype, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.

The intended EU rules primarily subject Skype and WhatsApp to the same regulations as other telecoms providers. As Germany holds a rotating EU presidency currently, it shared the proposed changes and other EU countries.

All 27 countries of this bloc have struggled for common ground on the e-Privacy regulation – enrolled by the European Commission. There had been disagreement with cookie rules for tracking users’ online activities regarding targeted advertising and consent requests.
