The Swedish telecom operator plans to cover almost the whole country with 5G technology in the coming two to three years. The government officials recently announced a new spectrum auction by the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority.
The auction has been made between four bidders that were delayed for a security review. It also involved a critical lawsuit filed by Huawei, the Chinese telecoms equipment maker. The bidders were joint ventures and units of telecom operators like Tele2, Telia, Telenor, and Tre.
In this context, Staffan Åkesson, CTO at Telia Sweden, explained – “We are just really happy that the auction happened now; it is critical for our continued 5G rollout and to strengthen Sweden as a digital nation in the years to come.”
