Technology Companies Urge DoT to Scrutinize Huawei Plan

Several tech companies and telecom operators have urged the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to analyze Huawei’s strategy. The department should not implement the Chinese telecom giant’s proposal in a rush to overhaul current internet protocols in India. This was planned as a run-up to the 5G deployments in the country.

The Broadband India Forum has insisted DoT check on the associated data privacy, security risks, regulatory concerns, cost, and internet infrastructure authority issues.
As mentioned by T V Ramachandran, President at BIF – “The existing IP framework is still working, and there are no credible reasons to believe that they will not continue to adapt to future needs.”
