Canberra-based NetApp has purchased Instaclustr, a provider of fully-managed open-source databases, in a deal that is projected to increase NetApp’s present Australian workforce of 150 people.
Instaclustr’s seed round of funding was spearheaded by ANU Connect Ventures, which is partly owned by Spirit Super. They’ve invested a total of AU$8.5 million on the company since then. NetApp claims the acquisition that will add Instaclustr’s capabilities, will help it expand its cloud offering.
NetApp’s acquisition comes after the firm reported better-than-expected third-quarter earnings, with its all-flash array annualised net sales run rate reaching a new high of $3.2 billion.
