South Korea’s two underwater IoT technology standards have been approved by the IoT Working Group of ISO/IEC JTC 1. The new standardization plans have been approved as international standards. The National Radio Research Agency made the announcement. Kookmin University and the Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering led the development of the two new international standards.
The standardization plans cover guidelines related to underwater communication-based service design and requirements for underwater communication network management systems. Their applications are expected to include responses to disasters such as tsunamis and submarine earthquakes, and underwater and port security enhancement.
