Saudi Arabia Researchers Creates Underwater Internet_ Aqua-Fi

The researchers from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology have recently announced that they created a wireless connection for the underwater devices – Aqua-Fi.

Scientists have been struggling to develop suitable tools to communicate under the seas. The widely used radio and sonar systems have been detected with a range of downsides.

The Saudi Arabian researchers had confirmed that their system was able to place a Skype call while underwater. The technology leverages a blend of lasers and off-the-shelf components as the modem – for instance, Raspberry Pi computer. This helped to create bi-directional wireless connectivity for the underwater devices – to connect and function as a broader internet network.
