Rocky Linux Optimized for Google Cloud Made Public

A few days after Rocky Linux 9 arrived, Google Cloud recommended Rocky Linux as a replacement for CentOS 7. As of right now, CentOS 7 will remain maintained through June 30, 2024. The announcement comes after Google announced an integration with CIQ for Rocky Linux customer support, this information was released. 

Google has now declared Rocky Linux Optimized for Google Cloud to be generally accessible. This set of Compute Engine virtual machine (VM) images was produced jointly by Google and CIQ. For every significant release, Google will make available both the community and Optimized for Google Cloud editions of Rocky Linux. 

The most recent kernel and security updates are given for both sets of images. Images for Rocky Linux 9 will soon be accessible.
