San Francisco-based startup ngrok Inc., the developer of a reverse proxy platform, has announced that it has closed a USD 50 million funding round.
Lightspeed Venture Partners was the lead investor in the Series A round. Coatue additionally took part. Network requests sent between servers in an enterprise frequently go through a reverse proxy system before they arrive at their final destination. Reverse proxies check network requests for compliance with cybersecurity standards and stop potentially harmful traffic.

The system also aids in other tasks, such as maximizing the use of cloud infrastructure.
