Red Hat’s OpenShift 4.7 opens the door for both VMs and Containers

Red Hat is planning this with its technology preview, Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV). This will let businesses efficiently migrate VMs at scale to Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization. This, in turn, will allow developers to access legacy VMs from OpenShift. Companies will be directly deployed MTV on OpenShift with OperatorHub.

Red Hat’s senior vice president, Ashesh Badani, believes that OpenShift 4.7 incorporates features to help businesses modernize in phases, on a timeline providing the most sense and without intruding on existing services.

Besides its purpose in bridging the gap between conventional IT and cloud-native IT, Red Hat OpenShift is also making a role for itself in 5G.
