This week, the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) platform vendor announced the beta release of the most recent update, which includes the 8.7 and 9.1 milestones.
Both RHEL 8.7 and 9.1 introduce new features and capabilities that are intended to help organizations use Podman containers, an open source project led by Red Hat, more successfully. According to operations advocate for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Eric Hendricks, “Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.0 introduced a new, predictable lifecycle for RHEL.” Up until May 2024, RHEL 8 will receive complete support, which may also include the addition of new features.
RHEL 8 will then enter maintenance mode. The RHEL 9.1 milestone introduces a security feature for remote attestation as one significant change.
