Rakuten Will Use Cisco Routing Technology for 5G_ IoT

Rakuten Mobile has recently said that it is planning to use new routing technologies from Cisco. This is to expand its capacity to support business consumers with 5G and IoT services.

The firm has deployed a network based on Open RAN technology that uses software – in order to run network operations on the cloud. It will help reducing the requirement for physical equipment.

Tareq Amin, Chief Technology Officer mentioned in a statement, “We are going big into enterprise now, in a very elegant cost-efficient manner, without having to incur cost addition.” In fact, Dish Network is also racing to build a 5G network and Open RAN in the US by 2023.
