
The Japanese telecom operator, Rakuten Mobile, has recently announced its O-RAN partnership. The telco community promotes open, fully-interoperable radio access networks that are the potential future of mobile networks.
As explained by Tareq Amin, CTO and Executive VP of Rakuten Mobile – “As a member of the O-RAN ALLIANCE, we will leverage the experience gained from the development of our open, virtualized network in Japan to contribute to the creation of a fully open standard for RAN for the world.”
The company also noted that it is going to roll out its eKYC solutions – which is an AI verification service for online contracts within its mobile carrier service.
