Qualcomm has announced the launch of RB5 Robotics 5G Platform, which it said will be the
world’s first robot to support AI acceleration and 5G. The robots come with integrated systems on a chip, SDKs, cameras, AI processors, and 5G. The company said it has more than 20 early adopters to evaluate the RB5 platform and the first commercial products expected to be released before the end of 2020.

According to Qualcomm the RB5 platform is built on the company’s RB3 platform. The robotic system will support a number of third-party components, including Intel’s RealSense depth camera and Panasonic’s TOF (time-of-flight) camera.
