According to the latest research from Counterpoint, Qualcomm is leading the shipments for the cellular IoT module chipset in 1Q20, and has captured nearly one-third of the market, with a share of 36.1%. The cellular IoT module shipments globally have gone down by 28% in the first quarter YOY due to the pandemic’s adverse effects.
However, the IoT module shipments are based on the Low Power Wireless Access technology – which has increased by 51%, offsetting the drop in the automotive and mobility apps.
Enterprise, industrial, and automotive solutions are the top application areas for the cellular IoT modules. And with the growing connectivity, demand 5G modules will increase in the upcoming days.
