Amazon appears to be planning to let go of 20,000 employees, which is twice as many as had been anticipated. Amazon would lay off employees in a variety of positions, including corporate executives, IT specialists, and employees from distribution centers. Amazon layoffs will take place in the next months, according to sources with knowledge of the matter. Because Amazon employees are ranked from level 1 through level 7, employees at all levels are likely to be impacted. The NYT first reported that Amazon planned to lay off employees in mid-November, citing sources who said that up to 10,000 people might be affected.

The layoff process, according to a recent statement from Amazon’s CEO, would last for a few months, and the impacted employees would be informed once the company had finished its assessment.
