Oracle Corp. and Microsoft Corp. jointly announced the availability of Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure. The collaboration will provide Azure Cloud customers with direct streamlined access on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, or OCI. Oracle Database Services can now be provisioned and monitored in OCI by Azure users.
Additionally, customers can use Azure to develop applications and connect to Oracle services like Autonomous Database. According to one Oracle executive, the news was the result of a shared client base and enduring enterprise interest in multicloud solutions. The most recent statement strengthened a previous partnership the two businesses established three years ago.
Oracle Interconnect for Azure, a solution that allowed interoperability between the two clouds, was introduced by Microsoft in 2019.
