According to a recent announcement, three new teleports will be built and maintained by the incumbent telco in Australia. Telstra and OneWeb have agreed to a 10-year arrangement in which the incumbent Australian telco will build and manage three additional teleports in Australia.
The deal will offer ground support for OneWeb’s increasing fleet of low-earth orbit satellites in the southern hemisphere. The first teleport, according to the duo, would be placed in Divendale, Northern Territory, and will begin installation this month, with a go-live date set for July.
The other two locations, in Queensland’s Charlton and Western Australia’s Wangara, are expected to be finished later this year. As part of the agreement, Telstra will also provide monitoring and quality assurance services at each location.
