Chipmaker Nvidia has announced it has completed the long-awaited acquisition of chip producer Mellanox Technologies. The $7 billion acquisition was first announced in the first quarter of 2019 amidst a trade war between the U.S. and China. The deal is expected to allow customers to achieve greater utilization of computing resources and lower operating costs.

Mellanox is an Israel-based supplier for high-performance network computing. The merger will offer Nvidia end-to-end expertise in data center services and a larger footprint. It is the next step in NVIDIA’s ongoing efforts to grow its data center presence.
