Nvidia claims record-breaking BlueField-2 DPU performance tests

As per Nvidia benchmark test results, a single Nvidia BlueField-2 DPU received an impressive 41.5 million IOPS using standard networking and open source software.

Nvidia also conducted a series of tests involving connecting two high-speed Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. Proliant DL380 Gen 10 Plus servers – one of which was used as a storage system and an application server.

Each server is powered by two Intel “Ice Lake” Xeon Platinum 8380 dual-core processors at 2.3 gigahertz per second, providing 160 hyperthreaded cores per server, as well as 120 megabytes of L3 cache and PCIe Gen4 bus and 512 gigabytes of dynamic random access memory. According to Nvidia, its tests show that there are significant benefits to using its DPUs, allowing for higher performance and better efficiency for almost any type of business workload on both application and storage servers.
