After the announcement of buying the computer chip company Arm, Nvidia has announced the building of a supercomputer meant for healthcare research in Cambridge. The new supercomputer will have eight petaflops of Linpack performance and four hundred petaflops of AI performance. The Cambridge-1 supercomputer is touted to be UK’s most powerful supercomputer. It will rank 29th in the list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers.
Fueled by 80 Nvidia’s DGX A100 devices created for building and running large scale AI projects, it is expected that the supercomputer will function as a focal point for innovation in the UK and help researchers build critical projects. Using this, they can tap into Clara Discovery, an Nvidia build suite of tools with features like pre-trained AI frameworks and models optimized for DGX systems.
