National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) of the U.S. Department of Commerce released the first version of its new AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF 1.0), a “guidance document for voluntary use by organizations designing, developing, deploying, or using AI systems to help manage the numerous risks of AI technologies.”
A playbook that is a companion to the NIST AI Risk Management Framework offers advice on how to use it to “incorporate trustworthiness considerations in the design, development, deployment, and use of AI systems.”
Since July 2021, NIST has been creating the framework while obtaining feedback from workshops and the general public. The newest draft was published in August 2022.
