The New York Power Authority (NYPA) has announced a new agreement with cybersecurity company IronNet and Amazon Web Services that will help the country’s largest public power organization strengthen its protection against cybersecurity.

Victor Costanza, CISO’s deputy at NYPA, said the proliferation of complex computer attacks had prompted them to help municipal services create a robust security system that could detect and reduce real-time attacks.

The deal comes two days after the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released an alert detailing a variety of tactics used by Russian state-sponsored groups to attack local and tribal governments across the US between September 2020 and December 2020.
