MongoDB Launches New Cloud and On-Premises Products

MongoDB unveiled new features and capabilities in the main MongoDB product, now at version 6.0, as well as Atlas, Mongo’s Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) that runs on all three major US hyperscaler clouds, at its World conference in New York City’s Javits Convention Center. 

Initial sync via file copy, according to the business, boosts initial sync speed by four times, allowing clusters to grow up faster. MongoDB has revealed a unique secondary and geo-indexing, as well as read speed improvements, specifically for time series collections, in addition to the previously mentioned features. 

These are significant speed improvements, particularly in a database that was previously tuned almost entirely for write efficiency with no support for secondary indexes.
