Monash University researchers are leading a $ 5 million project, sponsored by the US Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), to develop an AI-based smartphone application that could help define real-time diplomatic, international, and tourism talks.
The study will be led by Monash University’s Vision and Language Group in the Faculty of IT in collaboration with researchers from David Nazarian College of Business and Economics at California State University, and King’s College London.
According to Monash, the project will involve developing a language processing system for use and smart mirrors. It is hoped that the system will be able to recognize and adapt to the emotional, social, and cultural contexts that differ between different communities and languages.
