Microsoft has hired Manik Gupta, the former Chief Product Officer of Uber, to help the company’s consumer business. Gupta will report directly to Jeff Teper, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft 365 Collaboration, as the new Corporate Vice President for Teams Consumer, Skype, and GroupMe.
Microsoft’s Teams Consumer service, dubbed “Teams for Life” internally, is part of the company’s larger consumer push. Microsoft officials recently announced that Teams now has 250 million monthly active users, but they haven’t specified how many of them use the consumer services.
