Microsoft Corp. has opted not to file remedies to European Commission regulators prior to the antitrust investigation into the USD 69 billion acquisition of the gaming giant Activision-Blizzard Inc., according to a report.
The company was given until the stroke of midnight to submit any documents to the EU’s competition watchdog, but it appears the company did not do so. Politico spoke with two experts on the subject. The massive acquisition has always been under investigation. The Competition and Markets Authority, the country’s antitrust watchdog, started its own investigation in July of this year.
British regulators said they are investigating whether the acquisition will result in higher costs, fewer consumer choices, or less market competition in the gaming industry.
