Metrist Raises USD 5.5M to Provide Better Cloud Service Outage Data

Metrist, a startup that helps IT teams monitor outages across the many cloud services they use to run their own applications, has raised USD 5.5 million in a seed round.

The round was led by investors including Heavybit, Morado Ventures, PagerDuty co-founder Alex Solomon, and StatusPage co-founders Scott and Steve Klein. Technically, Metrist collects information about a company’s services using either an agent or an eBPF, but it also continuously monitors 21 different cloud regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure for downtime and service degradations.

Although observability and application performance monitoring tools like New Relic or Honeycomb can provide users with some of this information, this is not their primary use case because these services are typically internal.
