Meta will control what he believes will be the world’s fastest AI computer. Called the AI Research SuperCluster (RSC), the program is already in operation, and among the fastest AI computers in the world, the company said in a blog post on Monday.
The development of the RSC is in progress, but when the second phase is completed in the second half of this year, the system will deliver approximately 5 computer-assisted exaflops.
Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is already using supercomputer to train major models in natural language processing (NLP) and computer-assisted research. The company uses large AI models for critical ongoing activities, such as finding harmful content on social media. Ultimately, however, it seeks to train billions of parameter models to help empower metaverse – a virtual world that Meta aims to support with its platforms and products.
