Meta Platforms Inc. has announced an in-house developed computing method that allows certain types of video content to be processed up to 94% more efficiently than before.
The business claims that the technology will enable it to process user-uploaded videos to Instagram more quickly. When a user uploads a video to Instagram, Meta’s servers first perform a process known as encoding before publishing the video. Repackaging the clip into a video format that is compatible with a variety of devices is the task at hand.
In the process, Meta also speeds up the transmission of video content across networks to user devices and consumes less bandwidth.
