Facebook’s parent company, Meta Platforms Inc., has acquired Luxexcel Group B.V. for an undisclosed sum in order to improve future augmented reality glasses.
The company produces lenses using the VisionPlatform, which combines a 3D printer, software, printing techniques, and proprietary lens printing material. On Project Aria, a project that aims to make augmented reality technology compatible with regular glasses, Meta previously collaborated with Luxexcel.

According to Crunchbase, Luxexcel had raised USD 22.8 million prior to being acquired. Munich Venture Partners, Innovation Industries, SET Ventures, KLA Tencor, and PMV are among the investors in the business.
