MediaTek Launches 5G Chip to Gain Market Share in the US

MediaTek Inc, the Taiwanese chip designer firm, has recently announced the launch of the new 5G chip which is aimed at gaining US market share. The new chip is known as M80 and will support millimeter-wave technology – used by the US carriers companies. 

At present, Qualcomm Inc. is the dominant supplier of chips that are making the most out of the millimeter-wave technology. MediaTek plans on helping the smartphone chip market with innovative solutions in the competition with Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and Qualcomm.  

It is also strategizing to increase chip supplies to prominent phone makers – including Xiaomi Corp and LG Electronics Inc.
