Maersk, a multinational supply chain firm, has teamed up with Open Invention Network (OIN) to defend Linux and open-source patents.
Maersk’s supply chain management tools are built on open-source technologies. By cross-licensing Linux System patents to one another on a royalty-free basis, Maersk and the OIN will practise patent non-aggression in core Linux and associated open source technology.
Simone Frattasi, Head of Global IP, Maersk said, “As we continue our digital transformation, we remain focused on building and integrating the best technologies for our logistics platforms, delivering services that our customers value and trust. Open source plays a pivotal role in the platforms and applications that we build, purchase and integrate.”
