LatchBio has announced a 28 million USD Series A funding round to expand and improve its web-based data processing platform. Its purpose is to provide researchers with a simple, integrated tool for data analysis without the need for a computer scientist.
The data collected in biology labs is the focus of LatchBio’s tools. It uses pre-programmed methods to unpack and analyze common data formats such as DNA sequencing and protein folding files. LatchBio’s strategy includes combining storage and curation with analysis.
The platform is cloud-based, which eliminates the need for researchers and their institutions to maintain servers. Coatue and previous investor Lux Capital co-led the 28 million USD series A deal. Hummingbird Ventures, Caffeinated Capital, and Haystack and Fifty Years are among the new investors.
