The Microsoft-backed startup behind the ChatGPT chatbot, OpenAI, gets a warning from Japan’s privacy watchdog on Friday. Watchdog warned OpenAI not to gather sensitive data without individuals’ permission.
In a statement, the Personal Information Protection Commission declared OpenAI should reduce the sensitive data it gathers for machine learning. The commission also stated it might take further action if it has more concerns.
Regulators worldwide are exploring opportunities to enforce rules governing the utilization of generative artificial intelligence (AI). A tool that can generate text and images, the influence of which proponents correspond to the arrival of the internet.
