Is Macron calling NATO ‘brain dead’?

NATO leaders gathered near London for a summit, to tackle sharp disagreements over spending and regarding future threats coming from Turkey and China’s role in the alliance.

With Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron blowing hot and cold over NATO’s function, the 29-member military alliance is looking forward to reinvigoration as it marks the 70th anniversary of the Cold War-era founding.

To ensure the alliance stays together, leaders held preliminary meetings on Tuesday, during which stark differences were aired, with Trump calling NATO obsolete, criticizing Macron for comments about NATO’s strategic “brain death.”
