Intel Corp. has revealed a slew of new details about the architecture of next year’s Xeon central processing units, which will be aimed at data center servers and workstation applications.
Even though Intel hasn’t even released the fifth generation of its Xeon CPUs, today’s unveiling at the Stanford University Hot Chips conference gave attendees a good idea of what the sixth-generation chips will bring to the table. Intel is hoping that these chips will meet customers’ needs for a variety of applications.
This time, Intel says its Xeon chips will come in two different flavors, one designed for applications requiring a lot of brute force and the other to maximize efficiency and density, according to Intel.
