Intel Corp has recently announced that it will start building Qualcomm Inc chips soon. This will help it laid out a roadmap to expand new foundry business in order to catch rivals – including Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co by 2025. Even Amazon will be another customer for the foundry chip market.
Intel has been leading in technology for manufacturing the fastest, smallest computing chips. However, it has lost to TSMC and Samsung – whose manufacturing services supported Intel’s rivals like Advanced Micro Devices Inc and Nvidia Corp.
“Intel is absolutely going to catch up, and be ahead in some dimensions, with TSMC over the next few years,” explains David Kanter, an analyst from Real World Technologies.
